Hi, I'm Sally
I'm a canine massage therapist, behaviourist, trainer, and scent sport instructor. I work closely with owners and their dogs and tailor each experience, be that massage therapy treatment or training, to meet the specific needs of the dogs and to ensure the best and kindest results.
My main interest is companion dogs, and I specialise in canine arthritis, and canine lifestyle modification for health and rehabilitation. This can include home and environment adaptation, behaviour modification and training, enrichment, and support.
I believe in a multimodal approach and will liaise with other health and wellbeing professionals involved in your dog's care where appropriate, to achieve the best possible outcomes for the health and wellbeing of your dog.
I hold an Academy of Integrated Animal Therapies, UK Rural Skills accredited, align to level 5 Certificate, Practitioner in Canine Massage & Rehabilitation with Distinction. I hold an FdSc Applied Canine Behaviour and Training with Distinction from Bishop Burton College and have completed Canine Arthritis Management. CAM Advocate Level 1, and am currently studying CAM Advocate level 2.
I am a licensed UK Scent Sport Instructor and a strong advocate for the power of scent work for all dogs'. Scent Sport it is low impact, builds confidence, provides mental stimulation and is suitable for all abilities/disabilities.
I have a Higher Certificate in Canine First Aid.
I hold my own professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

A qualified Canine Behaviourist and Trainer, Sally brings her extensive knowledge into improving the lives of dogs and helping their humans understand them.

As a certified UK Scent Sport Instructor, Sally pursues her passion in teaching scent work for dogs. Sniffing is the most natural doggie activity and at Scarborough Scent Dogs we unlock the incredible power of your dog's nose in a fun, rewarding and structured way. This benefits both dog and handler, as they enjoy games together, building a stronger relationship and fabulous team.
As part of UK Scent Sport, the UK's leading scent work provider, we offer expertly designed classes which include a variety of components using fun and enriching activities.

Sally is a Practitioner in Canine Massage & Rehabilitation, completing her training with Academy of Integrative Animal Therapies. Previously a Podiatrist, her background in human anatomy, physiology and biomechanics enabled her to apply and transfer this knowledge and skills into studying and treating dogs. She has a special interest in canine arthritis and has completed CAM Advocate Level 1 with
Canine Arthritis Management and is currently studying towards CAM Advocate Level 2.

We offer group classes which are adapted to the dogs taking part, and we welcome nervous and reactive dogs who are able to work one at a time.
If preferred, we also offer 1-2-1 coaching tailored to suit your dog's individual needs and your own learning style.
We employ scientifically-backed training techniques to ensure effective learning. Our methods promote trust and respect, creating a harmonious environment for both dogs and their owners. Our focus is on all dogs being able to partake in Scent Sports, and we welcome all dogs, especially reactive and anxious dogs., seniors and dogs with limited mobility.
Every dog is unique, which is why we assess your dog's specific needs and design a training session that works for you and your dog. We are inclusive and encourage all ages, from puppies (following vaccinations) to seniors and everything in between. Training in scent work gives every dog an opportunity to learn something new, it helps busy dogs focus and anxious dogs grow in confidence. Scent sports are low impact and suitable for dogs with mobility issues, it can help to improve cognition and focus and hearing and sight impaired dogs can also take part.
